NOCaaS Onboarding Form

Step 1 of 9

11%
  • Phase I - Getting Started with Axxys AIM
    -Basic Required Information-

    Introduction
The NOCaaS onboarding process will involve three phases:
    1. Phase I - Required Information
      • This is the form that you are in now. This form will list the necessary information needed to get your NOC setup. Please fill out each relevant section. If you need to take a break, you can click on the "Save and Continue Later" button down at the bottom of the page.
    2. Phase II - Domain Environment Prep
      • This document will explain the steps necessary to prepare your environment for onboarding into the Axxys Infrastructure Manager (AIM)
    3. Phase III - Intro to AIM
      • This packet explains many of the features in AIM and how to use them for managing your environment

After you have completed Phase I
    1. Read and process this "Phase II - Domain Environment Prep" document.
    2. We will begin creating your NOC in AIM. Once it is set up, the Admin Account (created in the next step) will then be emailed the final packet, "Phase III - Intro to AIM"

During this last phase, an Axxys NOC technician will be available to the Admin to get your NOC setup with your specific configurations. Unless you want to schedule this later, please specify a date and time for this below.

  • Admin Account Creation

The Admin has full read/write access within their company level in N-central. This will be the main account that we will create to get you started. This account can then create other Admin, User, and Customer Dashboard User accounts as you wish. These other account types and the procedure to set them up will be explained in the Phase III documentation.

  • Basic Information

  • This should be an account in your Active Directory that is part of the Domain Admins group AND with a password that never expires.

The account name cannot be longer than 20 alphanumeric characters.

  • Device Discovery

  • A probe will need to be installed on a Windows server at each physical location. The probe gives you the following abilities within the location's network:
●Facilitate discovery of IP-based devices including workstations, servers, switches, printers, etc...
●Push software agents out to Windows workstations and servers as well as OS X workstations
●Monitor devices that cannot have an agent installed (network devices, printers, etc...)
●Assist in some forms of remote control
●Cache patch data to the UNC path of your choice
    ●Collect log data from devices

Probes are generally best put on Domain Controllers or File Servers that have decent resources. NAS servers generally do not have good enough resources to host the primary probe, but could be used as a secondary probe for more advanced setups. Exchange, SQL, and Web Servers are generally avoided as choices to avoid performance issues with their primary services.
  • Add a new row Remove this row
    (example: 192.168.0.1-254)
To add another range, click the plus sign at the end of the input field and a new input field will appear.
  • Discovery Jobs usually take 30-120 minutes to complete depending on the number of devices being discovered. During this time, devices will import as they are discovered. Discovery Jobs can use a decent amount of resources on the probe device, so it is suggested to do these scans only once a day when devices should typically be online.

  • Licensing & Patching

Non-managed devices use an Essential license, which provides basic monitoring and remote control.

    Managed devices use a Professional license, which allows for monitoring, alerting, patching, running scheduled tasks (scripts, etc.), remote control, etc. and will incur an extra monthly charge;
    ●25$ per Server
    ●7$ per Workstation
    ●5$ per Network Device

  • Alerting

Alerts can be sent to your PSA ticketing recipient via email but to do that we must create it as a user account.
If you do not wish to set this up now, you may skip to the next section.
If you want alerts to be sent to individual technicians, that will be set up during Phase III
  • *Last name is optional

  • In the "Phase III - Intro to AIM" packet, we will create your tech's accounts in AIM. If you want alerts to go directly to your tech's, that will be addressed at that point.

  • AV Defender

AV Defender is the custom Bitdefender antivirus software integrated into AIM.

  • Note: NAS devices as well as devices marked as BDR servers are excluded by default. If they need to be specifically included, or if any other device or device type needs excluded, make sure to note that.

  • Server AVD Maintenance Windows

  • Please enter a number from 0 to 1440.

  • Workstation & Laptop AVD Maintenance Windows

  • AVD Caching

Enables caching on the designated machine so that devices will try to get AVD updates from this internal update server before trying an external BitDefender server. If the designated machine does not have a probe, a probe will need to be installed but the probe can be configured to do nothing but manage the AVD caching.

AV Defender downloads a significant amount of data over the Internet in the form of signature updates. To avoid bandwidth issues, it is strongly recommended that you install an update server at each site where AV Defender will be deployed. The update server will download the signature definitions and act as a single point of contact for all devices on the network.

Only Windows Servers or devices where a probe is installed, and that do not have Panda-based Endpoint Security installed can be designated as an update server.

System Requirements: 7GB of space on the C: drive, and minimum of 500MB of memory available. It is also strongly recommended that your Update Server not be a device that requires uninterrupted disk access such as an Exchange or Web Server.

  • Server Patch Windows

  • Note: This activity on some systems (depending on the hardware) can be resource intensive. Schedule with consideration.
  • Note: Make sure to schedule the installation window with a suitable amount of time after a detection and any pre-download windows to give them a chance to complete first.
  • Please enter a number from 0 to 100.

  • Workstation & Laptop Patch Windows

  • Note: This activity on some systems (depending on the hardware) can be resource intensive. Schedule with consideration.
  • Note: Make sure to schedule the installation window with a suitable amount of time after a detection and any pre-download windows to give them a chance to complete first.
  • Please enter a number from 0 to 100.

  • Patching

  • Note: It is highly suggested to put the Patch Cache onto a volume that is not backed up. Cache can be stored on a non-probe device by entering a shared network drive such as \\NAS1\N-able PatchCache
  • Please enter a number from 0 to 100.

  • Patch Policy:

Note: Manually approving individual patches will be covered in the final packet, "Phase III - Intro to AIM". This section only covers system automated approvals and declines.
